Hey Dr Sue — Why Do Men Cheat When They Have A Good Woman?

Let’s make this less about men cheating and more about why people of all genders cheat.

People cheat for any number of reasons. They may cheat because they like the attention. Feeling like other people find you attractive and want to sleep with you can be great for making you feel better about yourself.

Sometimes people cheat because they’re mad at their partner and want to get even for something that person did (or something they think they did). It may also tie into how happy they are in their relationship. If they’re unhappy but are afraid to end the relationship having an affair can force the issue.

Sometimes people cheat because they’re bored, or because they really want to do things sexually that their current partner won’t do.

Sometime its because the situation presents itself. They may have never thought about cheating on their partner, but they find themselves in a situation with someone they’re attracted to (and there may or may not be alcohol or drugs involved that muddy their self-control and loosen their inhibitions), and they can’t control themselves — and they lose themselves in that moment.
